We offer two types of sedation dentistry in our practice. These are nitrous oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas, and an oral sedation pill called Triazolam. Both forms of sedation allow you to be conscious but anxiety-free and relaxed during your dental procedure. This allows us to maintain your comfort and to perform your procedures with extreme precision in a timely manner.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry, also known as relaxation dentistry, is Dr. Forsberg's management of patient pain and anxiety during dental procedures and treatments. There are three types of sedation dentistry used at Advanced Smile Designs. These three types are nitrous oxide, Lorazepam, and Triazolam.

What are the benefits of Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry, first and foremost, allows people to get the dental treatments they need and desire, even if they would normally avoid going to the dentist as a result of anxiety. Because of sedation dentistry, you no longer need to suffer with an unattractive or unhealthy smile. In addition, sedation dentistry allows you to have your cosmetic dentistry procedures more quickly and with less discomfort, since you will not be fearing dental treatment. It also allows you to get more dental procedures performed during one sitting.

Sedation dentistry is also good for people who find dental visits unpleasant because they have difficulty getting numb or have a very high gag reflex. For these people, sedation dentistry is the perfect complement to dental anesthesia and allows treatments that would otherwise be impossible or very unpleasant.
